Each week I’ll share some random thoughts, ideas, observations, both silly and serious, that aren’t worthy of a full post.
Today I registered for my first 10k race – the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th. I don’t know what I was thinking! 10k on a hilly course in the heat and humidity of the 4th of July? I downloaded a 13-week training program so will begin training in earnest in about 3 weeks. Jeff Galloway – don’t let me down!
My normal morning routine is to be up really early, then sit in a semi-coma with a coffee and my iPad, reading garbage on Twitter. Although I have two HOURS to get ready for work, I always seem to be scrambling to get out the door on time. This morning I changed my routine, left the tv off and turned on BBC World Service instead. That lovely accent and global focus seemed to jump start my brain. I miss having a national radio service where you could just listen all day. NFL Radio doesn’t count.
A friend posted a question on Facebook this week referring to the 26th letter of the alphabet, “Do you say zed, or zee?”. (If you didn’t know already, I’m Canadian … and now American … but spent most of my life in Canada.). This link caused quite a stir and there was a lot of vitriol in the comments. Does how I pronounce a word really matter that much? Yes, I say pro-sess, day-ta, roo-te. and sore-ey. The way God intended 😉
Recently I purchased a book entitled Creating Your Best Life: The Ultimate Life List Guide authored by Caroline Adams Miller, MAPP and Dr. Michael B Frisch (check it out on amazon.com through this link.) The exercises are challenging and enlightening. I’m looking forward to sharing what I learn, because I think this may become a helpful guidepost for my journey towards focus, joy, intention and a better life.
