Joyful Tuesday ~ 11-Apr

We went to Lake Oconee (featured picture) this past weekend and I took dozens of pictures of sunrises, sunsets, and the lake. G doesn’t really understand it, but I can’t help myself from being awed by the beauty, and wanting to capture it forever.

Spent the weekend with someone who likely does not have many more days in this dear old world, yet he found a lot of joy simply watching his young grandson, and having a laugh with family.  This really changes your perspective …

Joyful Monday ~ 20-Mar

My brother-in-law was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. Yesterday, his daughters threw a huge bash for him and invited the whole town. There were live bands, good homemade pot luck, wine and beer for toasts, games for the children, and a lot of love. They danced!

Joyful Monday – 27-Feb

Years ago I had a Buddhist teacher in Thailand who would remind all his students that there was always something to be thankful for. He’d say, “Let’s rise and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we may have learned a little. And if we didn’t learn even a little, at least we didn’t get sick. And if we did get sick, at least we didn’t die. So let us all be thankful.”

As I write this, three family members are sick – one very sick. But I am joyful that there are here at this moment. And I say a prayer that I can say this again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next …
