Three o’clock in the morning. The soft April night is looking at my windows and caressingly winking at me with its stars. I can’t sleep, I am so happy!

We went to Lake Oconee (featured picture) this past weekend and I took dozens of pictures of sunrises, sunsets, and the lake. G doesn’t really understand it, but I can’t help myself from being awed by the beauty, and wanting to capture it forever.

Years ago I had a Buddhist teacher in Thailand who would remind all his students that there was always something to be thankful for. He’d say, “Let’s rise and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we may have learned a little. And if we didn’t learn even a little, at least we didn’t get sick. And if we did get sick, at least we didn’t die. So let us all be thankful.”
– Leo Buscaglia, professor/writer
As I write this, three family members are sick – one very sick. But I am joyful that there are here at this moment. And I say a prayer that I can say this again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next …
“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”
– Thich Nhat Hahn, Buddhist Monk
